Shameless

Shameless is a TV series that first aired on Showtime, January 9, 2011. The show takes us into the lives of an alcoholic, single father, Frank Gallagher (William H. Macy) and his six children, ranging in ages of toddler to adult. Staying drunk is the only thing on Frank’s mind, so the welfare of his children rarely crosses his mind. On a daily basis, Frank pulls off different schemes to fund his bad habit; leaving his children to fend for themselves.

Fiona (Emmy Rossum) is the oldest of the six children and has taken responsibility of her younger siblings. Doing all she can to make sure they keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. However; while doing so, the younger children have developed the art of lying and stealing to get by day to day.

Phillip “Lip” Gallagher (Jeremy Allen White) is the second oldest in the family and is extremely intelligent. He often uses his intelligence to pull off elaborate schemes to help provide for his family. Even though he is exceptionally smart, a straight A student, he puts off his education and hits the streets so his younger siblings do not go hungry.

The younger siblings, Debbie, Ian and Carl are known for their own schemes to survive in the Gallagher family. They may all seem sweet and innocent, but don’t let them fool you. With an alcoholic, system cheating father like Frank, they have learned how to take care of themselves and their youngest brother, Liam.

This series is full of laughs, as well as heartbreak and emotion. It’s my recommendation that young viewers do not watch this series, as there is quite a bit of bad language and adult situations. Shameless has aired for seven seasons, so if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely one I would recommend to adult viewers.

If you are a Shameless fan, please feel free to leave comments and let’s talk about the show. Hope to hear from you soon…
